Don't Break My User Experience

December 1, 2009

I had the delight today of using a software "upgrade" on a computing appliance. It used to have a pure HTML interface, but they've "improved" it by rendering portions of some of the screens using Flash (I believe it's Flex).

I used to like opening multiple tabs so I could see different projects in different tabs. Middle click in Firefox; job done. Only it's a Flex application now - middle click changes the cursor so you can scroll with the scroll wheel. Ok, no problem, I'll just right click and open in new tab....only it's Flash, so no decent right click menu.

Thanks for breaking my user experience and making your product harder to use. What's the bets that the testers all used IE6?
